Following recent rumours of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s interest in a potential return to Barcelona this summer, the Chelsea striker has confirmed as much on social media.

“I’d like to return to Barcelona… but we will see,” Aubameyang said in an interview on DjamLife’s TikTok channel (via The Times).

Fabrizio Romano reports that Aubameyang is “100%” likely to leave Chelsea, and Barcelona are open to re-signing him. But whether they do so will depend on their situation with regards to Financial Fair Play.

Romano claims the only way for Barcelona to bring Aubameyang back would be to sign him on a free transfer with a reduced salary, just a year after selling him for €12m.

Earlier this week, reports suggested Aubameyang is in negotiations over his Chelsea departure to join Barcelona, but the London club are unwilling to let him go without a fee.

The striker has reportedly already been in contact with his old Barcelona teammates and club manager Xavi, making it clear he wants to return and he’s willing to lower his salary.

Aubameyang was put in an embarrassing situation last week, returning to face former club Arsenal with Chelsea but being substituted at half-time after a poor display.

The striker has just three goals this season, and it’s little wonder he’s keen to go back to Barcelona, where he scored 13 in half a season.
