The BBC’s Garth Crooks selected two Arsenal midfielders for his Team of the Week this week, with Martin Odegaard and Jorginho making the side.

On Odegaard, Crooks wrote that the Gunners captain was “yet again at the heart of another Arsenal victory”.

He added: “The Norwegian’s decision-making seems to be getting better by the game as he continues to provide his team with the sophistication other players simply don’t possess.”

As for Jorginho, Crooks began by admitting that he wasn’t initially sure why Arsenal had decided to sign the former Chelsea man, back in January.

He then continued: “I must say I saw hints of why after his performance in midweek against Chelsea but the way he played against Newcastle explained exactly why Mikel Arteta saw such value in the player.

“His experience at crucial moments in the match at St James’ Park was clearly evident.”

WhoScored also included an Arsenal player in their Team of the Week, with Aaron Ramsdale making the side with a 7.9 rating.

The Arsenal goalkeeper made five saves and two claims in an intense encounter at St. James’ Park.

With Jorginho receiving the official Player of the Match award, Odegaard scoring Arsenal’s opening goal, and Ramsdale picking up another clean sheet, all three players are clearly deserving of their Team of the Week selections.

Next up, Arsenal will face Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 14th at 16:30 BST.
