Victoria Pelova discusses her transition to Arsenal

Dutch midfielder Victoria Pelova joined Arsenal from Ajax earlier this year and has been adapting to life in England and the higher level of competition.

While on international duty, the 23-year-old discussed her move and her experiences so far in the Premier League.

Adjusting to life in England

“It took some getting used to,” Pelova said about her move to England.

“It’s a different culture. They eat beans in the morning. But I really like it and the girls are very professional.”

Training intensity and adapting to the team

Pelova also mentioned the increased intensity of training at Arsenal, which she found challenging during her first month at the club.

“And you’re new to a team,” she added. “That is always difficult, especially when you come in the winter.”

Support from Vivianne Miedema

Fellow Dutch international and Arsenal star Vivianne Miedema has been instrumental in helping Pelova settle in.

“She really helped me a lot. I also lived with her for a month,” Pelova shared.

“She’s been pulling for years: ‘Vic, go abroad. That would be really good for you.’ So Viv has always believed in me. It’s nice that a player who is very big for me says that.”

Looking forward to facing Germany

Pelova is looking forward to the upcoming friendly match between the Netherlands and Germany with increased confidence, thanks to her experience with Arsenal.

“I have now played against Manchester City and Bayern Munich and then you come here,” Pelova said. Now we will play against Germany.

“That level is not super different. So I think I am here with a little more confidence now.”
