Newcastle World report that despite Eddie Howe’s initial belief that Allan Saint-Maximin would be back from injury in a couple of weeks, further assessments have shown that he’s looking at four-to-six weeks on the sidelines.

The winger suffered a grade-two hamstring injury on the back of a run of four league starts for Newcastle, equalling his longest run in the lineup this season.

At best, a four-to-six-week absence means Saint-Maximin is looking at a return for the game against Leeds United on May 13th, a week after Newcastle face Arsenal on May 7th.

If he needs the full six weeks to recover, the 26-year-old might not be back in action until the final day of the season.

Arsenal’s game against Newcastle is in the middle of a very tricky run of fixtures from the end of April to mid-May.

The Gunners kick off that run with a trip away to Manchester City, followed by hosting Chelsea, travelling to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United, before returning to the Emirates Stadium for a game against Brighton.

The Premier League title may well be won or lost in that run, so Mikel Arteta’s side will take any boosts they can get for it.
