Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares struggling at Marseille

Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares has been facing a challenging time on loan at Marseille, where his attitude and performance have disappointed the Ligue 1 club’s staff.

Initial high hopes for Tavares

The Portuguese defender’s arrival in Marseille had initially been met with excitement and anticipation, as fans hoped he could emulate the success of William Saliba, who thrived during his loan spell.

However, despite a strong start to the season, Tavares’ stock has been plummeting, with negative news surrounding him becoming increasingly common.

Kaboré impresses while Tavares falters

Recent reports from L’Equipe highlight how Issa Kaboré, on loan from Manchester City, has been impressing in recent games.

The right-back appears to have a better understanding of what manager Igor Tudor expects from his players, leading to questions about whether Kaboré could become more than just an alternative option for the Croatian coach.

Tavares’ attitude concerns

L’Equipe also reports that Tavares ‘still annoys the staff with his efforts’ and seems unable to consistently follow instructions.

This has led to the Arsenal loanee being benched during Marseille’s 3-1 win over Troyes, further indicating that his loan is not ending on a high note like Saliba’s.

With his loan spell at Marseille coming to an end, there is uncertainty surrounding where Tavares will play next.

He could return to Arsenal, where he still has two years left on his contract, but that seems unlikely given how things have unfolded in France.

The upcoming months will be crucial in determining Tavares’ future in football.

Tavares kicked out of training

At the start of April, it was reported that Nuno Tavares’ attitude and effort had seen him kicked out of a training session by manager Igor Tudor.

Despite his attacking prowess, Tavares’ defensive issues have raised doubts about his future, and Marseille are reportedly not interested in keeping him beyond this season.

Tavares’ next move remains uncertain as his loan spell nears its end, with a possible return to Arsenal or interest from other clubs.
