Former Arsenal star Lukas Podolski is reportedly considering a move to Brazil, with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro expressing interest in the 37-year-old forward. The German international, who has had a colourful career spanning several countries and leagues, could add Brazil to his impressive footballing résumé.

Podolski arrived at Arsenal in 2012 from FC Cologne and spent three years at the North London club. During his time with the Gunners, he made 82 appearances and scored 31 goals, with 17 assists.

A fan favourite, Podolski was known for his powerful left-footed shots and charismatic personality. Although his tenure with Arsenal was relatively short, he left a lasting impression on the club and its supporters.

After leaving Arsenal, Podolski had spells in Italy, Japan, and Turkey, playing for Inter Milan, Vissel Kobe, Galatasaray, and Antalyaspor, respectively. He is currently playing for Górnik Zabrze in Poland.

With an offer from Flamengo on the table, he could soon add Brazil to his list of footballing destinations. However, his future remains uncertain, with his contract at Górnik Zabrze is set to expire in June.

While the prospect of playing in South America’s most prestigious league might be enticing, Podolski has also received offers from clubs in China.

In 2021, Podolski stated that Górnik Zabrze would be his last club, but his recent performances and passion for the game suggest he may continue his career.

With 25 appearances in 29 league games this season, it’s evident that Podolski still has the ability to compete at a high level.

As Arsenal fans reminisce about Podolski’s time in North London, they will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on his next move.

Whether it’s Brazil, China, or somewhere else entirely, Lukas Podolski’s footballing journey doesn’t seem to be over just yet.
