Klopp praises transformed Arsenal ahead of Anfield clash
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has highlighted the impressive transformation of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, ahead of their Premier League showdown at Anfield on Sunday.
Arsenal’s title push
Currently leading the Premier League, Arsenal are aiming for their first league title since the 2003/2004 season.
Arteta’s side have an eight-point advantage over reigning champions Manchester City, who can reduce the lead to five if they defeat Southampton on Saturday.
Previous encounter at Emirates
In their previous encounter this season, Arsenal claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool at the Emirates, with a late goal from Bukayo Saka sealing the win.
The Gunners will be seeking their first league win at Anfield since 2012.
Klopp’s admiration for Arteta’s Arsenal
Despite Liverpool’s recent struggles, Klopp expressed his admiration for Arteta’s work at Arsenal.
He stated that the team is different from previous years, with a more lively and entertaining style of play.
The Liverpool boss also acknowledged that Arsenal have top players and well-executed match plans.
“It’s obvious it’s a different team, clear,” Klopp said.
“Mikel is building this team for a few years now and obviously the outcome is pretty impressive.
“The way they play is fun to watch, to be honest, it’s super-lively, really good football, top players on the pitch, good match plans. Good.”
Anfield advantage for Liverpool
Although Liverpool are winless in their last four fixtures, Klopp emphasised the importance of playing at Anfield and vowed to show continuous improvement during the game against Arsenal.
“It’s not exactly what you can say about us in the moment, so that shows you what the situation is,” Klopp added.
“But at least for a while we can mention, again, it’s Anfield. So, we are at home and still have to show reaction after reaction after reaction – we have to – and improvement.
“That’s what we will absolutely try on Sunday.”
