Arsenal captain Kim Little has committed her future to the North London club by signing a new contract, as announced by the club on Tuesday, the day after it was confirmed Little would miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old midfielder boasts an impressive record of 290 appearances across two spells with Arsenal, winning six league titles, three FA Cups, and five League Cups in the process.

Little’s impressive career at Arsenal

First joining Arsenal in 2008, Kim Little has become an integral part of the team, seventh on the Gunners’ all-time appearance chart with more games for the club than any other current squad member.

Throughout her time at Arsenal, she has scored 164 goals, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

Little’s reaction to contract extension

Expressing her delight in signing a new contract, Little stated, “I’m so proud of the progress that we have made together.

“Arsenal has been such an important part of my life, and over time, this club has become my home. It continues to be a privilege to represent Arsenal, and I’m still so motivated to move this club forward and be a part of its success.”

Arsenal’s support for Little’s decision

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall praised the midfielder, saying, “Kim is a world-class player and an exemplary professional.

“Her contribution here over many years has been outstanding, and we are so pleased that she will continue to represent Arsenal for years to come.”

Little began her football career at a young age, joining the Hibernian Ladies team in 2006. She moved to Arsenal in 2008 and quickly established herself as an integral part of the squad.

During her time at Arsenal, Little has won numerous domestic titles, including six league titles, three FA Cups, and five League Cups. She has made over 290 appearances for the club, scoring 164 goals.

In 2013, Little briefly left Arsenal to join Seattle Reign FC in the United States, where she played for three seasons in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She returned to Arsenal in 2017 and has since continued her successful run with the club.

On the international stage, Little has been a standout player for the Scotland national team since making her senior debut in 2007.

She has earned over 140 caps and scored more than 50 goals for her country. Little has represented Scotland in major tournaments, such as the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Throughout her career, Kim Little has been recognised for her exceptional skill and performances.

She was named the PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year in 2013 and the Football Writers’ Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2016.

In 2023, she was awarded an MBE for her services to football.
