Arsenal youth midfielder Ifeoluwa Ibrahim is linking up with the England u15s for the Pinatar Arena u15 Supercup this week.
All Nigeria Soccer report that Arsenal youngster Ifeoluwa Ibrahim is eligible to represent both England and Nigeria internationally. He was brought up in England, but his Nigerian parents make him eligible for their national side as well.
For the time being, it appears England have taken the lead, calling Ibrahim up for the Pinatar Arena u15 Supercup this week.
The youngster started for England along with Arsenal youth goalkeeper Jack Porter against the USA in a 2-2 draw on Wednesday, with the USA winning on penalties.
This isn’t the first time Ibrahim has been called up by the England u15s, as he was also called up by the team last August.
As this is only a friendly youth tournament, Ibrahim won’t be tied to England in any way. It’s not uncommon for players to represent England at youth level and then play for other countries in the senior teams, like former Gunner Alex Iwobi.
But England certainly seem to have the advantage with Ibrahim for the time being.
England will face Japan on April 28th and Spain on April 30th in the remainder of the tournament.
Following the opening game, Spain top the group with three points after a 4-3 win over Japan, whilst the USA have edged ahead of England with two points, receiving a bonus point for their penalty shootout victory. It’s all to do in the remaining games.
