Pep Guardiola has played down the significance of Arsenal’s recent dropped points, suggesting they were difficult games and his team can easily go on a similar run.

Though Arsenal are currently on an unbeaten run of 10 Premier League matches, Mikel Arteta’s side have recently had to settle for three draws against Liverpool, West Ham United, and Southampton.

Those results have put the title race in City’s favour, as Pep Guardiola’s side now know that if they win or draw against Arsenal, then winning the rest of their games will earn them the title – regardless of what their title rivals do.

As a result, there have been plenty of suggestions that Arsenal have blown it, and that they’ve already handed the title to City.

Yet Guardiola thinks Arsenal’s recent fixtures weren’t as easy as some people are saying, and he believes his own team could still drop points in the same way.

“They went to Anfield and got a result (2-2) – that’s not easy,” Guardiola said.

“And when you play teams like West Ham, they are fighting to survive and it’s difficult for everyone. Everyone plays for something, either the Champions League, Europa League, or staying up.

“It’s difficult and of course, it (dropping points) can happen to us. The momentum can go and we can lose. I know how difficult it will be.”

Ultimately, these are just words from Guardiola. Arsenal need to get a result against City on Wednesday to really start to put doubts in the heads of their opponents. Otherwise, it’s hard to see the Gunners lifting the trophy in May.
