Ivan Fresneda admits he doesn’t know what the summer holds for him, and he’s been learning English and German for many years now.
Speaking to Marca this week, Ivan Fresneda insisted his primary goals remain succeeding with Real Valladolid and playing for Spain, but he doesn’t know what the summer holds.
“I want to succeed at Valladolid achieving their goals, and my biggest dream in the long term is playing with the national team,” Fresneda said. “I don’t know what will happen with my future in the summer.”
Primarily linked with clubs in England and Germany in recent times, Fresneda confirmed that he’s learning both languages. However, he added that this isn’t a new development for him.
“I study Sports Management and languages, English and German,” Fresneda confirmed. “But since I was little.”
Reports in February suggested that Arsenal are joined by Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, and Juventus in the race for Fresneda this summer.
The defender opted to stay in Spain in the January transfer window, but he’ll sit down with his representatives at the end of the season to make a decision on a summer move.
Fresneda has a release clause of £26.5m, and Valladolid are hoping to spark a bidding war to get close to that price.
Fabrizio Romano had previously claimed that the Gunners had sent scouts to watch Fresneda regularly, after showing an interest in the Real Valladolid man in January.
Both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund reportedly wanted to sign Fresneda in the winter window, but the deal was never done.
A summer transfer would still be soon enough to qualify Fresneda as homegrown in the Premier League, as he’s only 18 years old.
