Todd Boehly held a conversation with Mason Mount to try and convince him to stay last week, amid serious interest from Arsenal and others.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that though club talks on Mason Mount’s future have been postponed until the summer, Todd Boehly held a direct conversation with the player on Friday to emphasise his importance and their desire to keep him.

That conversation has led some within Chelsea to believe it’s not impossible that Mount decides to stay, but that decision is yet to be made.

Ornstein adds that there’s serious interest from suitors including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, and Mount is likely to prioritise career development and trophies over finances.

Goal reported last week that Arsenal had held conversations with Mount, discussing a summer move for the England international.

So far, Mount has rejected all contract offers to stay at Stamford Bridge, leaving him on a deal to 2024.

With Chelsea under financial strain after their spending spree and a likely lack of European football next season, they’re going to be forced to the table for his transfer unless he extends.

Arsenal are keeping close tabs on the situation and have held talks over Mount’s availability.

Mount’s versatility in the final third seemingly makes him an appealing option, though Arsenal’s priority summer signing remains Declan Rice.

It’s unclear whether Arsenal would be looking to add both Rice and Mount to the squad, or whether Mount is viewed as an alternative option if the former transfer falls through.

The two midfielders obviously have different skill sets, and they could arguably fit in the same team together. But whether Arsenal are prepared to finance both moves remains to be seen.
