Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has urged his players to bounce back swiftly after their 4-1 loss to Manchester City, emphasising the importance of maintaining their title aspirations.

The defeat ended Arsenal’s 10-game unbeaten run in the Premier League and allowed Pep Guardiola’s side to close the gap at the top to just two points.

Arteta analysed the game, admitting that Manchester City were the better team on the night. He said, “They were much better than us, they were more efficient, especially in the first half. They competed for every ball, with a different intensity, purpose and determination.”

However, the Arsenal boss encouraged his players to move on and not let the result affect their future performances.

Aaron Ramsdale also remains optimistic about the team’s chances in the league, stating that they cannot give up on their title aspirations.

Despite Manchester City now being two points behind Arsenal with two games in hand, Ramsdale believes that the unpredictable nature of the Premier League means anything can still happen.

The shot-stopper commented on the team’s performance against Manchester City: “We haven’t played nine months of Premier League football to be in this position to moan or give up – we’re not going to do that. If something is going to happen, it’s going to be in our league, so, we’ve got to be there to pounce if anything happens.”

Reflecting on the key moments of the game, Ramsdale mentioned Kevin de Bruyne’s early goal and John Stones’ header before half-time, which made it difficult for Arsenal to recover from a 2-0 deficit.

He also acknowledged Manchester City’s ruthlessness and the need for Arsenal to learn from their opponents: “They’re just a frightening team when they want to be. We’re aspiring to be the best team in this league, so we’ll look at how they do things and try and be up there with them.”

Despite the disappointing result, Arsenal’s supporters remained steadfast in their support for the team, and Ramsdale expressed his gratitude to the fans: “They’re a credit to themselves and the football club, and give us huge pushes.

“We’re definitely disappointed that we can’t send them home with a smile on their faces, but if there’s one thing about this set of fans which I’ve seen over the last 18 months, they don’t give up.”

With the next challenge being a match against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, both Arteta and Ramsdale are determined to make things right and keep Arsenal’s title aspirations alive.
