Strong season for Baku

Wolfsburg’s 24-year-old right-back Ridle Baku has had an impressive season, attracting attention from several European clubs, including Arsenal.

Since signing with Wolfsburg from Mainz in the fall of 2020, Baku has become a crucial player under manager Niko Kovac.

The talented defender has scored five goals and provided one assist in 26 Bundesliga appearances this season.

European clubs eyeing Baku

German newspaper Sport-Bild reports that Arsenal have been monitoring Baku, with club representatives attending several games in Germany to scout the right-back.

Villarreal and other clubs are also showing interest in the promising player.

Arteta’s plans for Arsenal’s defence

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to sign a new right-back, having primarily used Ben White in that position this season.

Arteta reportedly appreciates Baku’s offensive and dynamic playing style, as well as his goal-scoring ability.

Baku, who has a contract with Wolfsburg until the summer of 2025, has earned four caps for the German national team.

Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Galatasaray’s 22-year-old right-back Sacha Boey.
