Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand, as they look to bolster their backline in the upcoming transfer window.

The Gunners have reportedly been monitoring the 26-year-old French centre-back with great interest, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal’s defensive reinforcement

Le Normand has been a crucial part of Real Sociedad’s impressive season, with the Basque side currently sitting fourth in LaLiga. His commanding presence and solid performances have caught the attention of several clubs, including Arsenal.

The French defender’s release clause stands at €50 million, and it is expected that Real Sociedad will demand that sum as their asking price.

Arsenal may face competition from other clubs, but their interest in the player is said to be above average.

Comparing Le Normand to his peers

When compared to other centre-backs around the same age and transfer value, Le Normand is mentioned along with players such as Gabriel Magalhaes, Alessandro Bastoni, Sven Botman, William Saliba, and Kalidou Koulibaly.

His current transfer value is estimated to be between €25M and €41.6M.

Arsenal’s history with French defenders

Arsenal have a long-standing history of signing French defenders, with the likes of William Gallas, Laurent Koscielny, and more recently, William Saliba joining the North London club.

Le Normand could be the next addition to that list if the Gunners decide to activate his release clause.
