Arsenal have confirmed their second pre-season game, with the Gunners set to face Manchester United in New York this summer.

Arsenal have now officially confirmed two matches of their pre-season plans, with the Gunners playing the MLS All-Stars team at Audi Field on July 19th, followed by a game against Manchester United at MetLife Stadium on July 22nd.

Sporting Director Edu Gaspar said: “The plans for pre-season are making good progress, with the match against Manchester United in New York being another important part of our preparations.

“Playing against strong opposition in a great stadium in front of so many of our supporters in New York will provide Mikel and the squad with a strong test and great experience ahead of the new season.

“We’ve now announced two matches in the US in July and look forward to announcing further details of our pre-season soon.”

Rumours on social media have seemingly revealed more of the plans, yet to be officially confirmed.

The Football Gerbil confirmed Arsenal’s fixture against Manchester United the day before the club officially announced it, and the same source claims Mikel Arteta’s side will also face Barcelona at the Sofi stadium in LA on July 26th.

Arsenal fixture insider Arsenal Fixture News confirmed there would be a third game on the USA tour, and added that the first team will be heading to Germany for a training camp again this summer, before playing 1. FC Nürnberg in a friendly.

That leg of the tour is scheduled for before the trip to the USA.

You’d imagine the pre-season schedule will be rounded out by one or two friendlies in the UK, but Arsenal may have to hold fire on finalising those plans.

If the Gunners win the Premier League or, probably more likely, Manchester City win the FA Cup and Arsenal finish 2nd, Arteta’s side will be involved in the Community Shield. If not, that weekend will be free for another event.
