  • Arsenal revives interest in Wolves winger Pedro Neto as a potential cover for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.
  • Mikel Arteta has given his approval for a new bid, as the Gunners aim to strengthen their squad ahead of Champions League football.
  • Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui might be willing to negotiate if he can reinvest in new signings for his team.

Arsenal is reportedly considering a fresh attempt to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, as manager Mikel Arteta aims to bolster the right-wing position and provide more options alongside Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners were linked with Neto in the summer of 2022, but a move did not materialise due to Wolves’ high asking price.

Pedro Neto’s limited playing time this season, with only 10 Premier League starts due to an ankle injury, has led Arsenal to believe that the Portugal international could be available at a lower price than last year.

According to Football Transfers, Arteta has given the green light for the club to pursue the 23-year-old winger.

Neto, a left-footed player, can operate on either flank but prefers the right-wing position, making him an ideal cover for Saka. With Arsenal almost certainly securing Champions League qualification for next season, the need for squad depth has become increasingly crucial.

The Gunners’ current options on the wings include Gabriel Martinelli and January signing Leandro Trossard on the left, while Saka’s only competition on the right has been Reiss Nelson, who could depart the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Back in August 2022, Arsenal’s pursuit of Neto looked improbable due to the potential cost of the deal.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that the North London club had hoped to bring in Neto as a replacement for Nicolas Pepe, who had joined OGC Nice on loan, but Wolves’ reluctance to sell made the deal highly unlikely.

The situation has changed since then, and Neto is said to be flattered by Arsenal’s continued interest, especially considering his spells on the sidelines.

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui might be willing to let Neto leave if it means he can reinvest in new signings of his own.

At Arsenal, Pedro Neto could join forces with fellow Portuguese player Fabio Vieira in the attacking midfield.

With an overall record of 11 goals and 12 assists from 107 appearances for Wolves, Neto could prove to be a valuable addition to the Gunners’ attacking options.
