After finally getting his first call-up to the United States Men’s National Team for the current international break, Arsenal loanee Auston Trusty went straight into their starting side against Grenada on Friday night.

Trusty joined Arsenal’s Matt Turner in the lineup for the CONCACAF Nations League match, with the U.S. trying to qualify for the finals and defend their status as champions.

Facing bottom-of-the-group Grenada, who had one draw and two defeats from their first three games in the qualifiers, it was a good opportunity to ease Trusty into the action.

The U.S. quickly asserted their dominance in the fixture, with Ricardo Pepi, Brenden Aaronson, and Weston McKennie scoring in the first 31 minutes for 3-0.

But then came a potential turning point, as Myles Hippolyte fired in Grenada’s opener in the 32nd minute for 3-1.

Fortunately, Trusty was on hand to get the U.S. back on track. Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic lifted a free-kick into the box, and Trusty got on the end of it, heading the ball across the six-yard box.

McKennie was on hand to guide a finish into the net for 4-1, effectively killing the tie before half-time. You can watch the goal here from 2:33.

In the second half, Pulisic, Pepi, and Alejandro Zendejas added three further goals for 7-1, putting the U.S. in control ahead of the final group game against El Salvador.

The permutations for the final game are very simple. If the U.S. win or draw, they make the Nations League finals. If they lose, they don’t.

Either way, they’ve already avoided relegation and secured a top-two finish, which gets them into the Gold Cup.

The Nations League Finals take place from June 15th-18th, before the Gold Cup between June 24th and July 16th. It looks like being a busy summer for Arsenal’s U.S. internationals.
