Aaron Ramsdale thinks there’s nothing to worry about with Bukayo Saka’s contract, and the winger will be at Arsenal for a long time.

There’s been plenty of speculation around Bukayo Saka’s contract situation this season, with the winger’s current Arsenal deal running out in the summer of 2024.

But there’s been good news in the last week, with reports suggesting an agreement is now in place, and only the final details remain outstanding.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Aaron Ramsdale suggested he never felt there was anything to worry about with Saka, even if the deal had run much closer to its expiry.

“Bukayo is an Arsenal player and will be for a long time,” Ramsdale said. “If he had one week left I wouldn’t be worried about him being here.

“If he had until the end of the season, I would still see him here on the first day of pre-season.

“I’m fairly relaxed with Bukayo, let him crack on with his team and the club sort it out and then we move forward.

“It is obviously not affecting him, that is why he is not rushing into anything and when it does settle we know we have him for longer than we do at the minute.”

It would certainly be a huge shame to see Saka leave the club now, with Arsenal just getting back into a position to challenge for major trophies.

In all likelihood, Arsenal will be back in the Champions League next season, for the first time since Saka made his senior breakthrough.

It will feel like a huge missed opportunity if Gunners supporters never get to see the 21-year-old playing for his club in Europe’s top-tier competition.

Fortunately, that doesn’t seem like a genuine concern right now. It appears to be just a matter of time before we get that official contract announcement.
