Speaking after Arsenal’s win over Leicester and VAR last weekend, Martin Odegaard said that Arsenal should use their previous defeat against Everton as motivation as they prepared for the match.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to the Toffees during previous last encounter, and Odegaard said at the time that the team was ‘upset’ and wanted to show a ‘different side’ during the next game.

On Wednesday night at the Emirates, Arsenal did that and then some, destroying Everton 4-0.

“[The previous defeat at Everton,] That’s motivation of course,” Odegaard said before the game.

“The game we had there, the performance, everyone was really upset. We want to show a different side on Wednesday and get another three points.”

On the night, Odegaard put in another captain’s performance, leading his side to a comprehensive 4-0 win.

He finished the game on the scoresheet and with the most clipped piece of skill from the match when he did this to Alex Iwobi:
