January signing Jakub Kiwior says he’s waiting patiently for an opportunity, and he knows Arsenal are willing to give chances to young players.

Arsenal made three signings in the January transfer window, and two of them have already had the chance to make their mark since joining.

Jorginho and Leandro Trossard played vital roles in Arsenal’s wins over Aston Villa, Leicester City, and Everton. Trossard also helped the Gunners to a point with a goal against Brentford, which would have been three points if VAR did its job.

Yet Jakub Kiwior is still waiting for his senior debut for Arsenal, having made eight appearances in the squad so far.

Speaking about his transfer, Kiwior said he’s staying patient, as he knows everyone wants their chance on the pitch and he’s aware that Arsenal give their young players minutes when they can.

“I thought that if we were leading by two or three goals I would get a chance, however, I am waiting patiently,” Kiwior said (via Dominik Watorski). “Everyone would like to play.

“When you look at all of Arsenal, they have a very young squad for the Premier League. They want to play young players, they are not afraid to bet on them. I took that into account when I came here.”

Only recently turning 23, Kiwior is still in the early stages of his career as a centre-back, with a deal at Arsenal until 2028.

With Gabriel Magalhaes having such a strong season in defence for the Gunners, it’s difficult to break into the starting lineup right now, but Kiwior has to think about the long-term opportunities at Arsenal.

The return of the Europa League may also provide some chances for the Polish international, who played for the Arsenal u21s last week to stay sharp.

The Gunners face Sporting CP in Lisbon on Thursday at 17:45 GMT.
