Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta watched on as his team made history by winning their fifth London derby in a row with a clean sheet in their game against Fulham.

In achieving this feat, Arsenal became the first team in the history of the English Football League to do so.

Before the game Arteta emphasised that he was focused on improving the defensive side of the team’s game, particularly in set plays and in the box, after conceding two goals in recent games.

He praised the team’s ability to come from behind, something they have done more than any other Premier League side this season.

“We are conceding some set plays, we are conceding a lot in games,” he said. “We conceded two goals against Bournemouth and against Sporting.

“If you want to be at the top, winning and winning and winning, you need clean sheets.

“We’ve been really good at preventing chances but not good enough in the last two weeks, and doing the right things in the box.”

Arsenal won the game 3-0 thanks to first-half goals from Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard and Fulham can count themselves very lucky to have only been three down by the break.

Leandro Trossard also grabbed a record of his own as he became the first player in the history of the Premier League to record three first-half assists in an away game.

After 27 games of the 2022/23 Premier League season, Arsenal have already surpassed their points total from three out of the previous five seasons with 66.

In the 2021/22 season, they amassed 69 points, while in the 2020/21 and 2019/20 seasons, they recorded 61 and 56 points respectively.

However, in the 2018/19 season, they managed to reach 70 points, and in the 2017/18 season, they earned 63 points.

Arsenal are also the first team in the 2022/23 Premier League season to have three players score 10+ goals. Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Ødegaard have all reached double digits in their goal tally.
