Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was back in north London again this week, working with the Gunners’ academy.

Posting on his Instagram story earlier this week, Jack Wilshere shared the above picture of himself and Cesc Fabregas as they got to work at the Arsenal academy.

Wilshere is currently the head coach of the Arsenal u18s, in the midst of an FA Youth Cup run to the semi-finals, whilst Fabregas is working on his coaching development.

Fabregas previously spent time with Wilshere and the academy youngsters back in January, with Sam Dean of The Telegraph reporting that he’d been with the academy for a few days.

The former Spain international is hoping to become a manager when he retires from playing, and this is part of that process.

As it stands, Fabregas is still under contract as a player, with a deal at Serie B side Como lasting until 2024.

The 35-year-old has made 14 appearances this season, providing two assists.

Como were somewhat struggling earlier in the campaign, but a decent recent run has them 13th and seven points above the relegation zone.

Fabregas has been on the bench for the last couple of games, so a quick trip to England shouldn’t put him under too much strain.

Given Fabregas’ playing contract, he’s not going to be linking up with Wilshere on a permanent basis for a while yet.

But it seems the club’s doors are open to him when he needs the chance to gain some experience.
