The Daily Mail report that Arsenal have shown an interest in RB Salzburg’s Noah Okafor, as the Gunners plan to add to their attacking options over the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have also reportedly looked at Okafor, who has 10 goals and five assists so far this season.

The 22-year-old particularly caught the eye in the early matches of the Champions League group stage, scoring at home to AC Milan, away to Chelsea, and at home to Dinamo Zagreb.

As well as the English clubs, Milan and Inter are also following the Switzerland international.

Okafor was called up to the World Cup with Switzerland, but he only featured as a substitute at the tournament. He has two goals and an assist in 12 games (four starts) for his country so far.

This isn’t the first centre-forward Arsenal have been linked with in recent months, and on the surface, the rumours seem a bit odd.

After all, Arsenal signed a new starting striker last summer in Gabriel Jesus, then brought in Leandro Trossard as another alternative in the January transfer window.

That’s on top of Eddie Nketiah’s new contract, and Folarin Balogun scoring almost every week on loan in France.

But with Balogun doing so well, Arsenal have been forced into making a decision this summer. He’s not going to want to stick around for academy football, so the Gunners either need to start including him in the senior side or to sell him.

Arsenal fans are probably hoping to see the striker stick around, but there’s no harm in keeping an eye on the centre-forward market, just in case he leaves.

On top of all that, Okafor has also played out on the wings before this season. His versatility in that regard could make him a useful option, just as it has for Trossard.
