Steve Kay reports for Football Transfers that Arsenal are set to offer Martin Odegaard a new deal running to 2030.

The Norway international is reportedly next in line for extension talks after deals for Granit Xhaka and William Saliba are wrapped up.

Odegaard would receive a significant pay-rise, and there’s an eagerness to find an agreement as soon as possible.

As it stands, Odegaard has a deal to 2025, but reports suggest he has an option in that contract to extend to 2026.

That gives Arsenal a bit more flexibility at the moment, effectively leaving him under contract for another three years and three months.

But the club captain is playing well as a nailed-on starter for Arsenal’s league-leading side this season, and at 24 he should have a long career still ahead of him.

If everyone is happy with how things are going, now seems like a good time to make Odegaard the next player to extend his deal, following Gabriel Martinelli and the reports of an imminent new contract for Bukayo Saka.

Odegaard has made 27 Premier League appearances in Arsenal’s 28 games this season, starting all 27. Only Aaron Ramsdale, the centre-backs, and Bukayo Saka have played more of the league campaign.

The midfielder has 10 goals and six assists in the competition, and it seems entirely possible he’ll join Saka in hitting double figures for both by the end of the season.

Just two more goal contributions would see him equalling his best-ever league tally for a season (18 with Vitesse in 2018/19).
