Marco Asensio has been linked with Arsenal and AC Milan, with both clubs seen as ideal options for him according to Estadio Deportivo.

Asensio would certainly benefit from more regular minutes and starts, which he could potentially get at Arsenal, but a move to the Gunners would not guarantee him a starting position.

This season, the 27-year-old has scored six and assisted five in 31 appearances. He has, however, only played 1,141 minutes meaning he scores or assists every 103 minutes.

Speaking last month, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said that he doesn’t care much about the contract situation of Marco Asensio, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal as his contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of the season.

Asensio has been unwilling to sign a new deal with Real Madrid, despite his recent improvement in form and minutes on the pitch.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be interested in signing Asensio, but his high wage demands may pose an obstacle.

“He looks good to me, I don’t know if he will stay or not. He may or may not stay, I don’t know, I don’t care much,” Ancelotti said. “We have a very important challenge this season.

“The important thing is that he is contributing, like last year. Let him continue like this, and the club will make the most appropriate decision.”

Reports indicated that the player’s agents were heading to London at the start of February to hold talks with Premier League clubs.

Although Arteta is reportedly keen on the winger, the financial aspect of a potential deal may prove to be an obstacle since Asensio is said to be looking for a four-year contract with higher wages than his current £118,000 per week.

Arsenal, however, were still said to be mulling over a contract offer him.
