Arsenal are one of the clubs tracking the progress of Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto, according to a report from his home country of Italy.

At just 19 years old, Wilfried Gnonto has already made quite an impression in senior football.

The forward has made eight international appearances for Italy already, scoring and assisting in a couple of games against Germany. He’s also played 20 for Leeds United this season, scoring four goals and assisting three.

Gazzetta.it claim that progress has caught Arsenal’s eye, with the Gunners joining the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in following the player.

They’re all reportedly convinced the youngster can make another step up, tracking him ahead of the summer window.

Leeds aren’t keen to sell, and would only consider an offer in the region of €30-40m (£26-35m) for the teenager.

One potential factor is the threat of relegation for Leeds. Whilst they’re currently in 14th, they’re only three points off the bottom of the table, so things could change very quickly.

If they go down, you’d imagine Gnonto would push harder for an immediate transfer.

Gnonto is set to face off against Arsenal for the first time after the international break, having just narrowly missed out on playing against the Gunners on a couple of occasions in the past.

The versatile forward completed his move from FC Zurich to Leeds United just seven days before Arsenal took on Zurich in the Europa League earlier this season, and he was then left out of the Leeds squad against Arsenal a month later.

If the rumours of Arsenal’s interest are genuine, perhaps Gnonto first caught the eye as club analysts reviewed the footage of Zurich’s recent matches.

He scored one and assisted one in Europa League qualifying, helping his side to reach Arsenal in the first place.

For the time being, Gnonto is away with Italy on international duty again. Perhaps Jorginho could put in a good word while he’s there.
