Marseille pulled off a shock cup win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, but Nuno Tavares was absent through injury.
Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares has been ruled out of action for the next couple of weeks after picking up a thigh issue, according to French outlet La Provence (via GFFN).
Tavares will be replaced by former Gunner Sead Kolasinac in the meantime, and it was Kolasinac who started for Marseille against Paris-Saint Germain on Wednesday.
Marseille pulled off an unexpected victory in the last-16 clash, with another ex-Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez scoring a first-half penalty, then Sergio Ramos equalising, before Ruslan Malinovskyi gave the hosts the win in the second half.
PSG have won three of the last five Coupe de France trophies, so their elimination presents Marseille with a great chance to win the competition themselves.
Marseille will join Lyon, Toulouse, Grenoble, Rodez, Annecy, Nantes, and either Lorient or Lens in the quarter-finals.
Though Tavares has had an up-and-down spell with Marseille so far, he’s been a regular in the starting lineup, making 22 starts from his 26 total appearances – and scoring five goals.
The Arsenal left-back impressed earlier this month with a fantastic run leading to a goal against FC Nantes, so it’s an unfortunate time for him to pick up an injury.

But there’s plenty of the season left to go, and a two-week absence isn’t a particularly long one in the grand scheme of things.
Tavares should be back in plenty of time for the Coupe de France quarter-finals at the beginning of March.
