Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make a ‘monstrous offer’ for Rasmus Hojlund, the Atalanta star who has been drawing comparisons to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

The Danish striker joined Atalanta back in August and has since scored six goals in Serie A, catching the attention of several clubs, including Real Madrid. In total, he has 13 goals, and five assists, in 29 games this season.

The Gunners reportedly scouted Hojlund during Atalanta’s 2-0 win over Lazio earlier this month, with the forward finding the back of the net in the victory.

Arsenal are said to be interested in adding the 20-year-old to their forward line to bolster their options.

However, they may face stiff competition from Real Madrid, who are also believed to be keen on the striker. The Spanish giants have earmarked Hojlund as a possible successor to Karim Benzema, with president Florentino Perez reportedly an admirer of the forward.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has praised Hojlund, hailing his spirit, energy, intensity, and technical quality. The Italian coach even compared the young striker’s characteristics to that of Erling Haaland, highlighting his speed and low centre of gravity, among other attributes.

Hojlund started his professional career at Copenhagen, where he scored five goals in 32 games before moving to Sturm Graz in Austria. He scored 12 goals in 21 games for the Austrian side before making the switch to Atalanta.

The Danish forward has made two appearances for Denmark to date, after making his national team debut last year.

It remains to be seen which club Hojlund will choose, but one thing is said to be sure: both Arsenal and Real Madrid are preparing to make significant offers for his signature.
