Newcastle United are closely monitoring Kieran Tierney for a potential £30m summer move, according to a report.
Football Insider report that Newcastle United are in the market for a left-back this summer, and Kieran Tierney is on their radar in terms of potential options.
The report suggests Tierney is valued at £30m, following his £25m move to join the Gunners a few years ago.
But you’d imagine Arsenal will hold out for more than that. Tierney has a contract until 2026, and Newcastle have major financial backers in the transfer market.
Though the defender hasn’t necessarily been a starter for Arsenal this season, he’s still a key part of the squad, making 25 appearances in all competitions.
There’s no doubt Oleksandr Zinchenko is the first-choice left-back at the moment, limiting Tierney to just four Premier League starts.
Still, Tierney has started all nine games in the other three competitions, so he hasn’t exactly been frozen out.
Yet James Benge claimed in January that there’s an increasing belief that Tierney may leave Arsenal in the summer transfer market.
“There’s a growing expectation at Arsenal right now that Kieran Tierney could move in the summer,” Benge told the House of Champions podcast.
“I don’t think Arsenal would push him out the exit door. But now he’s not a guaranteed starter, I think if the right offer came in, all parties are thinking this is something that might happen – not guaranteed.”
