With injury doubts surrounding the Canaries’ top scorers Josh Sargent and Teemu Pukki, Marquinhos’ return to fitness couldn’t have come at a better time.

Sargent, who has scored 11 goals in the league this season, was taken off at half-time in their previous game against Wigan Athletic due to an ankle problem.

Meanwhile, Pukki missed that 0-0 draw due to a calf injury.

The absence of both their top scorers could prove to be a huge blow for Norwich as they seek to consolidate their place in the promotion race.

However, the inclusion of Marquinhos could provide a much-needed boost to the Canaries.

The Brazilian winger joined Norwich on deadline day and has recently returned to training after recovering from an injury.

David Wagner, Norwich’s manager, has confirmed that Marquinhos is ready to make his debut and is likely to be involved in the game against Birmingham.

“He [Marquinhos] will be involved on Tuesday. I’m pretty sure,” Wagner said.

“He was available for selection, but he only trained (on Friday) the first time. This is why we decided to not take him into the squad for Wigan.”

Marquinhos, who is highly rated at Arsenal, will be hoping to impress on his debut and help Norwich maintain their promotion push.

The Canaries are currently in third place in the Championship and will be keen to secure all three points against Birmingham, who have suffered back-to-back defeats.

Norwich have already beaten Birmingham twice this season, once in the Carabao Cup and once in the league, thanks to a last-minute winner from Onel Hernandez.

Despite their recent form, Norwich will be confident of securing a victory against Birmingham, especially if Marquinhos can replicate the form that earned him the plaudits of Arsenal fans before his move.
