Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo returned to training on Wednesday, marking his re-entry into the club’s squad.

This comes after a failed transfer saga with Arsenal, who attempted to sign the Ecuadorian international with two offers, the highest being worth £70 million.

Despite posting a controversial statement on social media expressing his desire to leave for Arsenal or Chelsea, Caicedo remains a Brighton player.

Caicedo’s absence from training between Saturday and Tuesday, as well as missing Sunday’s FA Cup win against Liverpool, sparked rumours of a potential departure.

However, Brighton maintained that the player’s time off was a decision made by the club.

Brighton’s head coach Roberto De Zerbi played a crucial role in keeping Caicedo at the club, despite publicly stating that the team was ready to move on without the midfielder.

It is believed that in private, De Zerbi emphasised the importance of Caicedo to the team and reinforced the need to keep him.

De Zerbi’s reputation is on the rise, with rumours linking him to a potential move to Juventus.

Keeping Caicedo at the club until the end of the season is viewed as a victory for De Zerbi and shows the club’s investment in his vision.

With Caicedo back in training, he could be in contention to play in the upcoming match against Bournemouth on Saturday.
