Folarin Balogun had the chance to add to his Ligue 1 goal tally on Saturday after winning a penalty, but his spot-kick was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun already has 15 goals in Ligue 1 this season, and he gave himself the opportunity to score a 16th as Stade de Reims faced OGC Nice on Saturday.
Nicolas Pepe wasn’t involved in the fixture for Nice, as he remains absent through injury.
Early in the second half, Balogun raced to latch onto an overhit cross, taking control of the ball but being forced wide to the edge of the box.
Turning to face the defender, Balogun pushed the ball past his opponent and ran into the box, before being brought down by a tug of the shirt and a push. The referee pointed to the spot.
Balogun stepped up to take the penalty, firing it low and to the goalkeeper’s right-hand side. But former Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel guessed correctly and kept the shot out.
The ball fell back to Balogun, but off balance and on his left foot, his second effort went over the bar.
There was certainly an argument that a teammate was better placed to deal with the rebound, but when you’ve scored 15 league goals in 23 league games it’s understandable you back yourself to finish a chance.

At the time of writing, Balogun remains Ligue 1’s top scorer, but Kylian Mbappe is closing in, after another goal against Lille on Sunday.
The dropped points will be the more painful element of Saturday’s game, which finished 0-0. Reims will have the chance to bounce back at home to Toulouse on Sunday, February 26th at 14:00 GMT.
