Goal report that Mikel Arteta will make a late call on Emile Smith Rowe’s fitness for Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City on Wednesday, with the midfielder having missed the last couple of games with a thigh problem.

Reiss Nelson has also been back in training for a while now, but whilst he’s believed to be available, again there are no guarantees whether Arteta will include him in the squad.

With the injury doubts around Smith Rowe and Nelson, youth players Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand and Amario Cozier-Duberry have been taking part in first-team training this week.

Oulad M’hand is an attacking midfielder, whilst Cozier-Duberry is a winger, so either of them could step into the squad if required.

But we can’t draw any conclusions from that, as Smith Rowe and Nelson were also involved in the same sessions.

The youth players may just be involved as a precaution, or simply to gain further senior experience.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus is making good progress, but he isn’t ready to return yet. Mohamed Elneny remains out for the season. So those two will certainly be unavailable for the City clash.

You wouldn’t expect Smith Rowe or Nelson to start on Wednesday, but it would be good to have them as options from the bench if possible.
