A number of Arsenal’s key players weren’t in training on Monday, but this was largely just due to a recovery day.

During Arsenal’s training session on Monday, Sky Sports News reported that Eddie Nketiah, Jorginho, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Bukayo Saka were all absent from the squad.

This sparked some fears of injury issues, particularly for Saka, who seemed to be struggling with a knock against Aston Villa.

But Ryan Taylor reports that Saka, Jorginho, Zinchenko, and Nketiah were all simply in the gym for a recovery day.

There were some other absentees, including Mohamed Elneny, Gabriel Jesus, and Thomas Partey.

As we know, Elneny is out for the season, and Jesus is working to make his comeback as soon as possible. As for Partey, Taylor reports that he’s still being assessed by the medical staff after his muscle injury.

For the time being, it looks like Arsenal’s squad to face Leicester City later this week will be roughly the same as the squad they had against Aston Villa.

But with Jorginho performing so well in his first couple of starts and playing an important role in the winning goal against Villa, Arsenal fans can finally feel confident in their deep midfield alternatives.

Jesus is arguably now the player who could make the biggest difference coming back into the squad. Mikel Arteta should give another update on the striker later this week.
