Thiago Silva has revealed that he tried to bring Willian back to Stamford Bridge during the Brazilian’s difficult time at Arsenal but was sadly unsuccessful.

Willian made the move from Chelsea to Arsenal in 2020 but struggled to adapt and was allowed to return to his native Brazil to play for Corinthians after just one season at Emirates Stadium.

In fact, the 34-year-old even revealed he wanted to leave Arsenal after just three months.

Silva has a close relationship with Willian both on and off the field, and he tried to bring the two-time Premier League champion back to Chelsea before he joined Corinthians, but it didn’t work out.

“Willian is special,” Thiago told ESPN Brasil. “I have a special affection for this kid, as a player and off the pitch as a person.

“Before he left for Corinthians, I tried to bring him back [to Chelsea], but unfortunately things didn’t advance, they didn’t work. I knew he was a very important player.”

Willian spent seven years at Chelsea and played 339 games, scoring 63 goals.

He was part of the Chelsea teams that won the Premier League, the League Cup, the FA Cup, and the Europa League.
