Arsenal continue to scout Ivan Fresneda, but they aren’t pursuing a move for Denzel Dumfries, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Reporting for CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano claims that despite some in the Italian media linking Arsenal with a move for Denzel Dumfries, the Gunners aren’t currently negotiating a move for the Inter Milan defender.

Yet Romano adds that Arsenal are exploring right-back options, and Ivan Fresneda remains on their shortlist.

The Gunners have reportedly sent scouts to watch Fresneda regularly, after showing an interest in the Real Valladolid man in January.

Both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund wanted to sign Fresneda in January, and both were seemingly open to letting him return to Valladolid on loan until the summer.

But the deal was never done, and despite a deadline-day loan bid from an unnamed party, Fresneda opted to stay in Spain until the summer.

A number of other clubs had been chasing Fresneda, including Newcastle United. It’s possible all three of those clubs will now re-enter the race in the upcoming window.

A summer deal would still be soon enough to qualify Fresneda as homegrown in the Premier League, so given he was going to be loaned back anyway, it wasn’t a major issue that he didn’t join immediately.

In the meantime, following all the speculation around his future, Fresneda has been dropped to the bench with Valladolid.
