The Gunners are said to be in the market for a new striker and see the Argentine as the ideal candidate to bolster their attack for next season after losing out on him in 2018 when he moved to Inter Milan.

Martinez has been in fine form for Inter this season, scoring 13 goals in Serie A and helping the club to challenge for the league title (although ‘challenge’ is relative, Inter are in 2nd place but some 18 points behind Napoli).

Arsenal will face stiff competition for his signature, with several other top clubs, including Barcelona, reportedly interested in signing him.

However, the Gunners have a significant advantage over their rivals, thanks to their financial muscle and their ability to offer the player regular first-team football.

If Arsenal manages to sign Martinez, it would be a massive coup for the club, and he would undoubtedly add a new dimension to their attack.

The Gunners have struggled for goals this season at certain points, and the addition of Martinez would significantly boost their attacking prowess.

However, a deal is far from done, and it remains to be seen if Inter Milan will be willing to let go of their star striker.

Martinez is under contract until 2026, and the Italian giants are unlikely to let him go without a significant fee. He is currently valued at around €75m, a signifigant increase on the €25m Inter paid for him initially.

Moreover, with Inter preparing to lose Milan Skriniar and still undecided on the future of Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan from Chelsea, they may not be willing to sell another key player.
