Arsenal and the Football Association are investigating an incident where fans threw bottles and cups at Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne during Wednesday night’s game at the Emirates Stadium.

The incident occurred as De Bruyne walked past Arsenal fans on his way to the bench after being substituted towards the end of the game.

The FA is investigating the matter, and Arsenal have said they will punish any supporters found to be guilty.

Arsenal told Standard Sport, “We are studying CCTV and if we are able to identify the culprits they will be subject to strict sanctions. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

De Bruyne didn’t seem to take the whole thing too seriously, laughing on Instagram, posting pictures of himself avoiding the bottles and cups with the caption “Beer anyone?”

Just shortly before the incident, De Bruyne was filmed in front of the Arsenal fans and while some have said this is him trying to wind them up, it is possible he is reacting to what they are shouting at him.

Even if he was, that is no excuse for what followed.

Arsenal have already been charged twice this season for failing to control their players.
