The Arsenal u18s were set to face West Bromwich Albion away from home on Saturday, travelling up to the hosts’ training ground for the fixture.

But Arsenal confirmed on Saturday morning that the match had been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. It remains to be seen when it will be rescheduled for.

The postponement will be frustrating to Jack Wilshere and his Arsenal side, as they looked to be building some momentum.

The u18s beat Norwich City 4-3 in their last fixture, coming from behind with two goals in the last six minutes of the 90. That followed a 6-0 FA Youth Cup win over Millwall in late December.

Those two wins ended a run of six games without one, so it’s a shame not to be able to build on that this weekend.

Instead, the Arsenal u18s will now prepare for their match against Newcastle United in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night at 19:00 GMT.

The young Gunners will play away at Whitley Park for a chance to make the fifth round of the cup, in which they’ve already drawn Watford away from home.
