Leandro Trossard is expected to receive his first Arsenal start away to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday night, according to a report.
Gary Jacob of The Times reports that Mikel Arteta is expected to hand Leandro Trossard a first start away to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday night.
Signing from Brighton and Hove Albion last week, Trossard made his first appearance for the Gunners against Manchester United on Sunday.
The winger came off the bench as Arteta’s team scored late to win the match, and he played a small role in that winning goal.
“That’s what I like,” Arteta said of Trossard’s instant impact. “I see a player that is willing to make things happen and is especially composed in the final third and is something we needed to add to the team.
“Straight away he had a beautiful impact on the team to help us to win.”
But if The Times’ report is to be believed, Trossard will now get the chance to test himself with his new side from the start, against Arsenal’s primary challengers to win the Premier League title.
It won’t be the first time Trossard has played against Manchester City.
In fact, the 28-year-old will be the only member of the Arsenal squad making his second trip to the Etihad Stadium of the season, having played and scored against City for Brighton back in October.
That goal was Trossard’s second in his last three games against City, but he’s only been on the winning side once against Friday’s opposition.
Now that he’s playing for the Premier League leaders, the Belgium international will be looking to add to that tally.
