Newcastle United have joined Arsenal in making a fresh enquiry for Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby, according to a report.
Adrian Kajumba reports for the Daily Mail that Newcastle United have made an enquiry over the potential signing of Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.
Newcastle are long-term admirers of Diaby, but in the past, they’ve considered Leverkusen’s demands to be excessive. But with Arsenal showing an interest, they’ve made a renewed enquiry.
Leverkusen are determined to keep Diaby until at least the end of the season, but they could decide to cash in if they’re unable to sell anyone else this month.
Sky Sport Germany reported this week that with Arsenal’s move for Mykhaylo Mudryk falling through, Diaby is now an option for the Gunners.
The winger is under contract until 2025, so Sky expect him to be an expensive acquisition.
Bundesliga reporter Manuel Veth writes that the price for Diaby would be the same, if not more, than for Mudryk.
Leverkusen could have brought in €70m for the player last summer, and they’ll want an even bigger fee in the light of the Mudryk deal.
Diaby has eight goals and four assists this season, bringing him to 43 goals and 41 assists in 146 games for Bayer Leverkusen overall.
The 23-year-old is also a France international, and he can play on either wing.
