Some early team news has emerged from the Manchester United camp as they prepare to play Arsenal on Sunday.
Manchester United travelled to north London to prepare to face Arsenal this weekend, but Manchester Evening News report that a few players weren’t involved in the journey.
For a start, Casemiro is suspended after picking up a yellow card against Crystal Palace, his fifth of the season. Then there’s Jadon Sancho, who is back in first-team training this week but won’t be available at the Emirates Stadium either.
On top of those two expected absences, it was also notable that Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot didn’t join the squad for the trip.
Martial was forced off against Manchester City with an injury last weekend, and he didn’t make the squad to face Crystal Palace in midweek. It seems he hasn’t recovered in time to feature against Arsenal either.
As for Dalot, he was taken off early in the League Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic on January 10th, and hasn’t played since.
The full Manchester United travelling squad is as follows:
De Gea, Heaton, Butland, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Malacia, McTominay, Mainoo, Fred, Eriksen, Fernandes, Elanga, Antony, Pellistri, Garnacho, Rashford, and Weghorst.
United clearly still have a strong squad available to them, with new signing Wout Weghorst in the mix to give them an alternative to Martial up front.
Up there with Arsenal as one of the Premier League’s form teams right now, United will be a tough opposition to overcome, regardless of a few absences.
