Tensions ran high at the François-Coty stadium on Sunday during the AC Ajaccio vs. Lyon match (0-2) with former Arsenal man, Alexandre Lacazette, pelted with lighters as he attempted to do a post-match interview.

During the match, coaches Olivier Pantaloni (AC) and Rémy Vercoutre (OL) got into a heated exchange on the sidelines.

After the final whistle, Pantaloni refused a handshake from assistant coach Franck Passi, and headed toward Vercoutre with the intention of confronting him. The two were separated by staff and security.

Spectators tried to enter the field, but were prevented by security, while Vercoutre was escorted to the locker room.

A leader from ACA continued to follow and insult Vercoutre until stopped by François Joseph Sollacaro. Jordan Galtier, one of Pantaloni’s assistants, tried to calm the spectators, who even attacked a Canal + cameraman.

The interview with Lyon captain Alexandre Lacazette had to be cut short after he was pelted with objects, including a lighter.

The events at the François-Coty stadium have naturally caused concern and the Disciplinary Committee is expected to take swift action.

The altercation between the two coaches, the actions of the spectators, and the attack on the Canal + cameraman are all incidents that will likely be looked into by the Committee.

A previous suspension for Frédéric Antonetti for a similar incident highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and respect for all involved in football matches.

The outcome of the Committee’s investigation will have implications for the involved parties and could lead to further disciplinary measures.
