Kaya Kaynak reports for Football.London that Jakub Kiwior is soon set to complete his transfer to Arsenal for an initial fee of £17.5m, plus £3.5m in add-ons.

The Serie A defender will reportedly sign on an initial contract to 2027, with an option to extend by a year.

Over in Italy, TMW report that several clubs tried to sign Kiwior before Arsenal secured a deal for him.

Borussia Dortmund led the chasing pack, making an offer of €22m (£19.4m). Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Brentford, and Leicester City all also made offers for the player.

But Spezia turned them all down in favour of Arsenal’s bid, and the player will now finalise his move to north London.

Kiwior’s agent had already confirmed he would sign for Arsenal on Monday or Tuesday, and the player even attended the match against Manchester United – watching on from the stands.

It’s just about getting the formalities over the line now, then we’ll get the official announcement.

This isn’t the only time Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have gone head to head in a transfer battle this week, with the Gunners also competing with the Bundesliga side for the signing of Ivan Fresneda.

Arsenal have won the race for Kiwior, but Fresneda is yet to make his decision. That decision is expected on Monday.
