Gabriel Jesus is still out of action after his knee injury sustained during the World Cup, with the striker undergoing surgery at the start of December.

Arsenal have appeared hesitant to put a specific timeframe on Jesus’ recovery, and Mikel Arteta continued to be evasive with the exact details of the Brazilian’s return.

However, speaking in Friday’s press conference, the Arsenal boss suggested things are going well and Jesus will be pushing everyone to let him back out there as soon as possible.

“He’s progressing really well,” Arteta said. “He’s working really hard. He’s in the right place in his recovery regarding the time that we set for him, but he’s still a bit far [away] to be back.

“I would like to see him very quickly but I don’t think that’s going to happen. We’re going to have to be patient with that one. With every surgery, there are always a lot of things you have to be very cautious with, especially in the first few weeks.

“He’s going to push everybody there to be on the pitch really [soon], but we have to be cautious as well.”

Various reports at the time of Jesus’ injury suggested he’d be out for around three months. Though this timeframe was never officially confirmed, it would leave the 25-year-old out of action until early March if correct.

That means missing big-six Premier League clashes against Spurs, Manchester United, and Manchester City, as well as the FA Cup match against City later this month.

But it would potentially mean a return in time for the Europa League restart, with the Round-of-16 first leg on March 9th.

For now, it’s just good to hear that there haven’t been any setbacks or serious complications.
