Fulham remain in talks with Cedric Soares over personal terms, after receiving permission from Arsenal to hold negotiations.
Sky Sports report that Fulham are still in talks with Cedric Soares’ representatives over personal terms, as they try to secure his signing from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Sky report that Arsenal have given Cedric permission to speak to Fulham, and Fulham will try to seal the deal with Arsenal once they’ve agreed terms with the right-back.
Cedric has 18 months left on his Arsenal deal, and he’s a long-term target for Fulham.
There were some reports in recent days that Fulham were starting to look at alternative targets, with their move for Cedric stalling.
But Sky are clearly suggesting that the deal could still happen if the current talks progress.
The Evening Standard initially wrote that Fulham’s move for Cedric was being held up by his wages.
The player is earning around £65,000-a-week at Arsenal, and Fulham are reluctant to match that.
But the 31-year-old has now been absent from Mikel Arteta’s matchday squads for the last three matches, so it looks as though he and the club are gearing up for a transfer departure.
If Fulham decide to look elsewhere, Cedric is also a target for Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.
All three clubs have been in contact with Cedric’s representatives over the last month.
