Though Cedric Soares may still join Fulham on a deadline-day loan, there’s also interest from elsewhere, according to a report.

Simon Collings reports that Cedric Soares’ loan move to Fulham is still a possibility, but there’s also interest in him from another Premier League club and a side from La Liga.

This sets up a potential late twist for the Portuguese international’s future, after a month of rumours linking him with a loan transfer to Marco Silva’s side.

Up until a day before the deadline, it seemed it was only Shane Duffy’s permanent transfer holding Cedric’s move up. There was even some talk of Fulham pursuing a permanent summer deal.

But it now appears possible that the deal will face a late hijacking.

Fulham had been strongly interested in signing Cedric on loan, but they had issues with the Premier League’s loan restrictions.

The Cottages already have Shane Duffy and Dan James on loan, and the Premier League has a cap of two loanees from other Premier League clubs.

As a result, they can’t loan Cedric unless they either make one of their current loan deals into a permanent move, or terminate the loan early.

The Daily Mail initially reported that Fulham would solve this problem by signing Duffy on a permanent deal, but that still hasn’t happened yet.

Fulham and Arsenal had already agreed on a six-month loan deal, and Fulham would cover Cedric’s current wages in full. Cedric reportedly earns close to £100,000-a-week at Arsenal.

Presumably, Arsenal would want any alternative bidders to offer those same terms for the loan move.

It remains to be seen exactly which two clubs have joined Fulham at the last minute.
