Eduardo Camavinga’s agent has shot down links with a loan move to Arsenal, amid reports of interest from the Gunners this month.

On Friday, the Evening Standard had reported that Arsenal were interested in a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

The Standard added that it was unclear whether or not Madrid would sanction the move, but the players struggle for consistent minutes seemingly made it a possibility.

Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder, and any plans to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United are on hold until the summer.

The Gunners also reportedly hold an interest in Youri Tielemans, but the Belgian midfielder will be available on a free transfer in the summer. Arsenal are unlikely to pursue Tielemans now unless they think he’ll make an immediate difference.

As a result, a loan deal for the next few months makes sense, but Camavinga’s agent has shot down the latest rumours.

“There’s no truth (in the Arsenal and Chelsea loan links),” Joshua Barnett told Fabrizio Romano. “Of course, every club in the world would want him, but he’s very happy in Real Madrid and Real Madrid are very happy with Camavinga.”

We know that agents don’t always tell the whole truth, and that they may be incentivised to make out that everything is going swimmingly for their client shortly after a big move.

But these quotes certainly suggest Camavinga isn’t angling for a transfer right now, which surely dashes any Arsenal hopes of landing him this month.
