Folarin Balogun has returned to the Stade de Reims squad after a minor hamstring setback over the last fortnight.

After Folarin Balogun scored a brace in his last appearance against Rennes on December 29th, Stade de Reims boss William Still revealed that the striker had a hamstring problem.

Balogun went on to miss Reims’ trip to Lille and their cup tie against FC Loon-Plage, raising some concerns that the issue could be something serious.

It appears those worries were premature, as Balogun has been named in the Reims squad to face AC Ajaccio on Wednesday night.

It remains to be seen whether Balogun is in the starting lineup, and whether he’s fit enough to complete a full match. But at least he’s already fit enough to be involved again.

Balogun has scored 10 goals in Ligue 1 this season, as well as assisting one and winning a penalty leading to a goal scored by a teammate.

Even after missing their last game, Balogun has still scored 50% of Reims’ league goals this season. They’re unlikely to leave him out for any longer than they need to.

Various clubs are starting to show an interest in Balogun, who is already reportedly valued at more than £35m.

But if the striker continues his good form in 2023, perhaps Arsenal will be looking at bringing him back into the fold.

This hamstring knock has been the first real setback of the 21-year-old’s loan spell so far. It’s up to him to respond to it.
